For sale For sale Quantum DLT8000 40/80 gig external tape backup unit. This unit has been tested using Win2K backup utility: backup, verify and restore of some 10 GB of data with DLT IV cartridge and Adaptec 29160 SCSI card. Additionally we re-tested the drive with Quantum DLT Sage application. No errors were reported: the drive seems to be in perfect working order. The drive itself is fitted into the external case with independent power supply, SCSI ID and fan. You can remove the drive itself and fit it internally into pretty much any computer with a SCSI card and 2x5.25” open slots. There are faster devices that will backup more data per tape but I doubt you will get the same cost/performance ratio as with the DLT technology. Have a look around e-bay: DLT tapes are cheap as dirt and with up to 80 gig of compressed data per tape it is nothing to sneeze at. Thanks for looking and good luck!!!
